Beefing up social media, while staying local: Small businesses get social media workshop in Shafter

SHAFTER, Calif. (KERO) — The Kern Citizens for Energy and Shafter Chamber of Commerce came together to host a social media workshop for small businesses to learn how to market their brands on Thursday night.

  • The event took place at the Shafter Library and Learning Center and focused on how social media consumers are using a variety of platforms and how small businesses that may not have a ton of experience in the space can create engaging content for viewers.
  • Event organizers showcased how consumers are using social media not just to stay in the know about their friends, but as a search engine for things wherever they may be.
  • While the event was a one-off, a representative for the Shafter Chamber of Commerce said they hope to see the Chamber continue to help host events like this for businesses in the area to help them succeed.
